Dr. Salvatore Trazzera is a Board Certified Cardiologist. His career in medicine spans 25 years. He created Long Islands first ‘Women’s Heart Program’ while in private cardiology practice in Huntington, New York at The Huntington Heart Center & Huntington Hospital,(1997-2008). Throughout his career he has been known to be an innovator and leader and has championed many clinical programs and projects. As a resident and fellow he published in prestigious medical journals such as the New England Journal of Medicine, American Heart Journal and the Journal of Critical Care Medicine. He has served as Vice President, Board of Directors of the Long Island Chapter of the American Heart Association. Dr. Trazzera has held Clinical Appointment’s at Cornell University Medical College, New York University School of Medicine, New York College of Osteopathic Medicine and is currently the Medical Director of the Touro College Physician Assistant Program at the Touro College Health Science Center in Bay Shore, New York.
He received his medical degrees from the Autonomous University of Guadalajara, Mexico and The University of the State of New York. He went on to complete his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at North Shore University Hospital, Manhasset, New York and the prestigious Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Manhattan, New York. He completed Fellowships in Critical Care Medicine and Cardiology at North Shore University, Cornell University Medical College and New York University School of Medicine, respectively. He maintains a rigorous continuous medical education program participating in national and international meetings, seminars and medical conferences which have earned him the American Medical Associations Physician’s Recognition Award each year from 1997-2011. He has been board Certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiology and Nuclear Cardiology and has recently expanded his practice to Vascular Medicine and Cardiovascular and Peripheral Vascular Computed Tomography, medicine’s most cutting edge technology. Dr. Trazzera is only one of a hand full of physicians who have achieved Certification in Vascular Technology (RVT-Registered Vascular Technologist) and Vascular Imaging Interpretation, (RPVI-Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation).
Dr. Trazzera is CEO of NYTEX Sports, LLC a sports management company based in New York and Texas and owner of the Texas Brahmas Professional Hockey Team in the Central Hockey League (AA Minor Professional League) as well as the Texas Jr. Brahmas, a Tier III Jr. A Hockey Team playing in the Western States Hockey League (WSHL).A ‘Certified ImPACT Consultant’ (CIC) trained at the University of Pittsburgh prestigious Concussion Management Program, he is a leader and expert in Traumatic Brain Injury (Concussion) management and works with local high schools and colleges to provide the IMPACT Concussion Prevention and Management Program to their athletes.
He is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Radiology at Stony Brook University Medical Center and serves as Team Physician for the Stony Brook University Ice Hockey Team. He has introduced a concussion education, prevention and management program utilizing state of the art clinical neurocognitive (ImPACT@, Axon@) and neurophysical (Balance) assessment. This program will help guide athletes to safer return to play minimizing recurrent and long term injury further decreasing post concussive cognitive impairment.
Dr. Trazzera has had a passion for sports since childhood. He continued to play both baseball (MSBL/MABL) and Ice hockey until recent years. He played youth hockey and travel hockey for the Oyster Bay Gulls organization and went on to play collegiate hockey at Geneseo State University and St. johns University in New York. He maintains his USA Hockey Coaching Certification (Level 5) and has coached at the midget and Tier II Jr. A Levels for P.A.L. (Police Athletic League) in Suffolk, New York. As Founder and Chief Executive Officer of NYTEX Sports, LLC and under his guidance and leadership, the Texas Brahmas of the Central Hockey League (CHL) reached the pinnacle of ‘AA’ Minor Professional Sports when they captured the CHL’s coveted ‘President’s Trophy’ as league champions in the 2008-2009 season. The Texas Brahmas have been among the winningest franchises in the CHL under his leadership. Since taking over this leadership role and resurrecting a defunct franchise and sports complex, THE NYTEX SPORTS CENTRE and the Texas Brahmas Hockey Club, Texas Brahmas Youth Hockey Association and the Texas Jr. ‘A’ Brahmas have become the pride of the City North Richland Hills, Texas and theNYTEX Sports Centre is recognized as the premier multifaceted family friendly sports entertainment facility in the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex.
