The Axon Sports Computerized Cognitive Assessment Tool, also known as CCAT, is a baseline testing method that was developed with kids in mind. Kids are competitive, energetic and don’t want to be bored by long winded tests. The CCAT incorporates a deck of playing cards into a fun, reliable and competitive method of baseline testing for children.
The cards are used to create simple visual and auditory tests of cognitive ability over the computer. The tests are simple, convenient and affordable. It is recommended that the athlete take the tests before an injury (beginning of season) as well during the season. This repeated testing, even if no injury has occurred, is aimed to account for any discrepancy in the growth of a child’s brain. Children will grow and naturally become better at the cognitive tests delivered through the card games, so it is important to gain accurate norms for these athletes.
